Title
Medical recipe manuscript book
Date
c.1694-1712
Description
On the dorse of the 2nd page is written "Mr Fynyes Physik Book"
Indexed at front, containing prescriptions for individual patients, accounts of treatment, medical recipes, including mentions of Dr Coke and persons from well-known Derbyshire families.
At the front are recipes for ink and a brass scourer; at the end are legal notes and verse giving advice on health month by month. Front cover missing.
A researcher has advised Derbyshire Record Office that this book contains text copied from "A Physical dictionary: in which all the terms relating either to anatomy, chirurgery, pharmacy, or chymistry, are very accurately explain'd" by Stephen Blancard, which was printed multiple times in the second half of the seventeenth century. "Mr Fynye" appears to have made significant additions and changes to the text.
