This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:

A Sketch of the Road from Cricketers Inn to Hinkley 1771. A sketch of the Road from the Turnpike Road (leading from Litchfield to Burton at Alrewas Field to Swarkeston Bridge. Scale: no scale shown. Size: 41 x 33 cm. Materials: sepia ink on paper, damaged along margins. Notes: compass rose, west at top. Shows roads, houses in plan, rivers Tame and Mease, Salters Bridge, Cotton, Catton, Foremark, Stanton, Melbourne, Caulke, Ticknal, Furnace, Smisby, Butt House: endorsed '1771 Sketch of a Road through Hartshorne (from several villages beyond) to Swarkestone Bridge'.
