This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
A plan of Derby Hills Common with the allotments to which the foregoing award refers taken in the year 1771 by Wm Wyatt. Surveyor: William Wyatt. Scale: of 12 chains [1:3200 see note later]. Size: 48 x 82 cm. Materials: coloured ink on vellum. Centred on: SK367243 Notes: compass indicator, top of sheet west. Common mainly 3 fields in ownership of Lord Melbourne, other hedged 'old inclosures' on west and south-east boundaries, 280 acres: owners, references and areas in a table: Award concerned with 46 allotments north of Melbourne road Commissioners Wm. Wyatt, Thomas Oldknow, John Watkinson, sworn 16.7.1770. Inclosure award dated 31.8.1771: endorsed 'This plan tested by the drawn Ordnance map and found to be drawn on a scale of 3 chains to an inch [1:2400]. The diagram [scale] on the plan is incorrect.
