Description
Hopes his plans and organisation are flourishing. Discusses book by Grundy-Heapes about history of Buxton. Mentions news of a literary prize won by Dr Scholes and of Leon [Goossens] being prevented by illness from performing at a concert. Gives detailed news of the popularity of Whaley Bridge library. Mentions the unusual appointment of a Derbyshire librarian as deputy chief at Manchester. Has been asked by Buxton Borough Surveyor for access to Ernest's notes in relation to a talk about Buxton's roads. Gives financial news from P[ublic] T[rustee] in relation to the houses. Is thinking that it might be better to clear the books to release a room for letting. Regrets that he is not nearer: could feed him well having received food parcels from New Zealand relatives. Asks about progress wth the Shakespeare portrait.
