Description
Comments on her use of Basic and asks about the likelihood of having a role in his organisation. Expects that he is in despair at Government's attitude and state of the world. Describes converting bed-sitting rooms into a flat, with help from Parson Dyer. Has attracted possible tenants. Describes other household re-arrangement in progress. Reports Mr Wooliscroft's news of a decline in the market for books and furniture. Reports conversation with neighbour who has given notice to her tenants, (Dora Axon's former tenants, including the Latvian girl now suspected to be pregnant.) Reports and comments upon receipt of a letter from P[ublic] T[rustee]: about financial matters including ways of repaying a mortgage. Predicts Lea Axon's intentions about the property [? house or houses in Manchester] and recounts discussion she had with Ernest who went against her wishes. Asks for Ogden's advice. Has seen Whaley Bridge library from the bus and anticpates an exploratory walk.
