Title
Handwritten letter from Dora Axon to Charles Ogden
Date
1 Dec 1947
Description
Expresses thanks for interim report. Trying to get things straight as Alex is reducing her hours of work. Discusses personal financial matters. Reports feeling better. Asks Ogden to look at notes. Calculates that Buxton notes would run to 817 pages: considers this too much. Would be a pity if Buxton history is not published as a book. Has completed index to Ernest's father's letter files (1864-1913) Asks for advice about what to do with "Autographs" many of which are difficult to read. Realises that there is a year's work dealing with house contents. Asks about what to expect about progress with Ernest's estate. Discusses "Hitchin Worthies" by R L Hines. Mentions some Basic references; a poem by Sir John Bowring; two letters from Lord Crawford in Bright's Shorthand 1911; a letter by E. J. Philips on his shorthand system. Her playing in a quartet last night led her to realise that her nerves were improving. Mentions a keen young cellist, son of a Halle orchestra violinist: predicts that he will go far.
