Smith; warnings received about Dr McLachlan's possible wish to acquire some books for himself; advice received about other possibilities for disposal, including through Dr McLachlan's son, a librarian. Lists elements of Ernest's books and papers and their locations through the house. Mentions her intention to let some rooms in the house amd describes a visit from an estate agent: but apprehensive at the prospect. Recounts Ernest's decline in health and the impact on her. Expresses her gratitude for Ogden having corresponded with Ernest.
