Discusses the Grafton portrait in H J Massingham's "Where man belongs" Disappointed that his last visit ended abruptly. Has seen his criticism of "Reading I've Liked" by Clifton Fadiman; and refers to having had a visit from someone who may write a biography of Arthur Machen. To go to a rehearsal of Tom Jones being peformed on Sunday at the Pavilion: then will start Messiah. Adds good wishes from Sandy [a pet?].
