TitleHandwritten letter from Dora Axon to Charles Ogden
Date11 Sep 1946
DescriptionExpresses sympathy at death of pet dog and recalls death of her own pet. Envious of the ticking of Ogden's clocks. Invites him to check the crop of grapes in his vinery. Asks whether his collection of mechanical birds includes one mentioned by J C Squire as having belonged to G K C and Cedric Chivers and perhaps Marie Antoinette. A friend stayed last week: visited Tideswell and saw the brothers Hunstone; saw work on an altar piece and screen for Chesterfield Church and in the cottage of one brother an amazing sight of original woodwork, incuding a carved oak beam. Found the church disappointing in comparison to a previous visit when the light was better.
