Derbyshire County Council original plans prescribing improvement and building lines Nos 1-50, Land Charges Act 1925 parts I & II, and other. The maps bear individual dates between 1926 and 1935, and show improvement and building lines established under the Public Health Act 1925 and the Roads Improvement Act 1925. Each bears authorising signatures of senior officers of the council.

Administrative History
The Public Health Act 1925 and the Roads Improvement Act 1925 empowered the Highway Authority to prescribe in relation to any public highway an improvement line and a building line, the effect of which is to protect land which may eventually be needed for road widening.
