Administrative HistoryCornelius Black MD of Harley St and Lea Hall, Cromford, in about 1880 purchased lands in Hasland formerly belonging to the Heathcote family. He leased out the coal seams. These lands were mortgaged and, after Cornelius Black's death in 1886, passed under his will to his son Chas Augustus Harold Black. When the latter was declared bankrupt, the property passed to John Beaumont of Ravensknowle nr Leeds. The mortgagees foreclosed and sold most of the lands in and shortly after 1892.
Custodial HistoryThese documents were transferred to the Record Office by a firm of solicitors in Huddersfield in November 1981.
