Archive CreatorIlkeston Magistrates Court
Administrative HistoryBy about 1900, the Ilkeston petty sessions existed under that name (for about 20 years prior to that, it was known as the Smalley petty sessional division), meeting at Ilkeston, Ripley and Heanor. In 1954, the court at Long Eaton, previously a part of the Derby petty sessional division, became part of the Ilkeston division. In 1969, there was a major reorganisation of Petty Sessions, with the number of clerkships in the county being reduced by amalgamations. These records all pre-date that reorganisation
Custodial HistoryThe records were transferred to Derbyshire Record Office under Section 4(1) of the 1958 Public Records Act, in January 1981 and July 1984
Organisation Sub-TypePetty Sessions/Magistrates
