Administrative HistoryThe Peak Park Joint Planning Committee was established in 1935 with representatives from: Derbyshire County Council; Ashbourne, Matlock and New Mills urban districts; Ashbourne, Bakewell and Chapel en le Frith rural districts.
The National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 designated the Peak District a national park with the Planning Board as the administrative authority.
