Administrative HistoryOriginally Derwent was a township and chapelry in the parish of Hathersage. It kept no separate registers until one was received from government (the 1813 baptism register), other records were kept at Hathersage. A new church was built in 1867 and a district assigned in 1871. In 1943, the united benefice of Bamford and Derwent was created, with one church at Bamford, following the decision that Derwent church would be flooded under the new reservoir scheme. The last service was held in Derwent church in March 1943.
Custodial HistoryThese records were deposited in February 1979 with an addition in May 1989. This List was added to the online catalogue as part of the FindersKeepers project, with the help of Elissa Rowe.
