| Administrative History | The present court name began in 1978, an amalgamation of the Derby Borough division, the South Derbyshire division and the Derby County and Appletree division. The South Derbyshire division had been formed in 1974 (following local government reorganisation) from the Swadlincote and Repton divisions, while the Ashbourne division (for records of this, see D1049) was then transferred to West Derbyshire. The Derby County and Appletree division was formed in 1968 from the Derby division and the Appletree division, minus those parts then transferred to Derby Borough. The Derby and South Derbyshire Magistrates Court closed in October 2008. |
