Administrative HistoryRecords of the parish of Swarkestone St James. Swarkestone is one of the original parishes of Derbyshire, but the benefice, though not the parish, was united with that of Stanton by Bridge in 1895. In recent years the administration of the two parishes has been separated again. Owing to the long period of association with Stanton by Bridge, some of these documents had become mixed with Stanton records and were only separated after coming to Derbyshire Record Office. There remains some papers relating to the joint benefice amongst the Stanton parish records. .
Custodial HistoryThese records were deposited in Derbyshire Record Office at various dates from April 1978.
