Description of accident: Lifting a piece of coal in tub when he slipped and strained his back
Further information: Previous industrial injury dated 7 May 1947 when buried by a fall of rock and off work 6 months. Medical report states 'there is no resulting disability from his first accident […] The physical results of his second accident have now disappeared, but there are neurotic symptoms resulting from it which are bound to disable him for some time yet.' Further claim December 1950 for a disablement gratuity and Special Hardship Allowance. Pencil note dated March 1950: 'not paid any contributions for last 18 months. M Hartshorne says kick him out'.
