Administrative History | John Thomas Boam established his business at his home in Ray Street, Heanor, where he assembled bicycles - the 'Ray bicycle' - and sold sewing machines, watches, etc. He later progressed to work on motor cars and cycles; sales, repair and hire. The business later became known as Heanor Motor Company. J T Boam and his son also built up a bus service, The Ray Service, which operated mainly between Heanor and Ilkeston. In 1931, Ray Services was sold to Midland General Omnibus. Heanor Motor Co was sold in 1959. |
