Description
South Normanton School Board managed boys and girls elementary schools on New Street and an infants school built in the mid-1890s. In 1903 Derbyshire County Council, as Local Education Authority, took over the schools. In 1950 a Senior Mixed School was established in what had been the Boys Junior School. From at least 1957 the Secondary Schools for boys and girls were known as Frederick Gent Secondary School.

Administrative History
South Normanton School Board managed elementary schools for boys and girls in New Street, as well a new infants school from the mid-1890s. Derbyshire County Council, as Local Education Authority, took over the schools in 1903. In 1950 a Senior Mixed School was established in what had been the Boys Junior School. From at least 1957 the Secondary Schools for Boys and Girls were known as Frederick Gent Secondary School.
