This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
A Survey and plott of severall parcells of Land scituate Lyeing and Being in Dranfield in the County of Darby Appertaining and belonging unto Mr Richard Hall together with the Hall Courts Gardens Orchards and other Houses. And also some other Doles and parcells intermixt or lyeing amongst the same. Taken in the yeare 1692. By Joseph Parker. Surveyor: Joseph Parker. Scale: [Scale A.] The Scale by which all this plott is laid downe except the House, Gardens, Orchards land adjacent closes. One chain is four poles and ye length of the Scale is 10 chains or 40 poles [1: 2640]: [Scale B.] The Scale by which the Houses, Gardens, Orchards [etc] is laid down. The length of the Scale is five chains or twenty poles [1:1320]. The two scales are surmounted by different types of carefully drawn dividers. Size: 67 x 52 cm. Materials: ink and paint on parchment. Centred on: SK358769 Notes: 16 point compass rose. Estate map, 113 acres, shown in 4 numbered 'Plotts': parcels have named fields with areas: houses, doles, rights of way, etc. lettered for reference to 'Explanation'. i. Hall with front elevation, other buildings in perspective, gardens, adjacent crofts: ii. doles with dotted line division in 'Highfeilds' and closes: iii. 2 closes: iv. closes west of Bridle sty Lane: finely drawn, dull colouring: Coat-of-arms.
