Administrative HistoryHope is one of the ancient parishes in the county. There was a chapelry at Fairfield, and Fernilee (including Horwich End), later combined with Taxal, was also part of Hope parish. A church at Bradwell was built in 1868, and this covered the townships of Abney and Abney Grange, Grindlow, Hazlebadge, Great Hucklow, Little Hucklow and part of Wardlow, as well as Bradwell itself.The other townships in Hope parish were Aston, Brough and Shatton, Highlow, Hope Woodlands, Offerton, Nether Padley, Stoke and Thornhill.
Custodial HistoryAcquired by Derbyshire Record Office in 1978.
