Administrative HistoryThe Methodist Chapel is situated on Waingroves Road. The first Waingroves Methodist Church was built in 1867 to serve the community growing up around it. It was a refuge chapel until the 1930s. Fire struck in 1879, destroying the building, but it was rebuilt in 1880.

In the 1960s, a great deal of restoration took place. There was a special re-dedication service and celebration following this and considerable re-decoration in October 1970. After a period of unprecedented growth at the start of the 1990's, the members' thoughts turned to upgrading the facilities.

It quickly became apparent that a major redevelopment programme would be necessary. Consultations were held within the church and wider community to establish known and perceived needs.

Possibilities were explored regarding redevelopment on the existing site or rebuilding on a new site. Eventually, due to the lack of available building land, the church council decided to redevelop the existing structure. In 1997, building land on Waingroves Road became available. After much uncertainty the church council successfully purchased the plot and a new chapel was designed.
The new Church was opened on 10th March 2001. [http://www.waingroves4.freeserve.co.uk/church.htm]
