Administrative HistoryThis was formerly part of the parish of St Werburgh’s (for records of this, see D1145). It was built in 1839 and was at first a District Church, becoming a separate parish in 1870. St Chad’s was formed in part from Christchurch in 1882 (for records, see D2104). In 1972, the parish was united with Holy Trinity (for records of this see D1793) and shortly afterwards the present parish of St Peter with Christchurch and Holy Trinity was formed (see D1792). Christchurch was declared redundant in 1976, and sold in 1977.
