Administrative HistoryThis was a chapel of ease to St John the Baptist, Buxton (for records of this, see D1751), consecrated in 1871. It was in Higher Buxton. In some of the registers, there are also entries for other chapels in Buxton: St Mary the Virgin and St Ann. In 1975, the united parish of Buxton with Burbage and Kings Sterndale was created. St James Church was closed in 1953 and demolished later in the 1950s.
