Description
From a bundle of deeds etc re advowson of Kniveton Curacy and the tithes of Little Wynn Farm in Kniveton. These belonged solely to Edmund Evans after 1807, one third having been conveyed by Gell in 1797 and the remaining two thirds by Messrs Stone and Beard's trustees in 1807
This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
A Survey of Lands in Knifton in the County of Derby, the Estate of ye Hon'd Sir Phillip Gell. Samuel Hutchinson 1710. Surveyor:Samuel Hutchinson.Scale: of chains [1:2400] with dividers. Size: 81 x 69 cm. Materials: ink on parchment. Centred on: SK2150 Notes: compass rose, north at top. Shows 102 acres with church and churchyard, the Green, Town Street named but no features, 'Henry Berrisford's farm' [Church Farm], 'Hallsteads', 'Lane to Wig[b]er', 'Top of Wigber', 'Rowfield', 'the road to Wirksworth': adjacent landowners: terrier with later notes re purchasers: endorsed 'Kniffton' and in a later hand 'Kneveton'.
