Long Eaton Urban District Council (1894-1974)
Administrative HistoryUrban District Councils were established by the Local Government Act 1894, superseding local authorities established under the Public Health Act 1872. From 1875, Long Eaton had been governed by a Local Board and this was replaced by an Urban District Council from 1894.
Custodial HistoryThese records were deposited by Derbyshire County Council: Public Health Department in March 1974, Erewash Borough Council in May 1974, May 1978, by Long Eaton Library in November 2001, June 2006 and November 2022.

A commemorative wooden plaque "presented to HMS Atherstone" following her adoption by the citizens of Long Eaton in March 1942 was transferred to Erewash Museum in December 2010, having been found in the Derby outstore with other local authority records.
