Cromford Canal Company
Administrative History
The Cromford Canal between Langley Mill and Cromford, with a branch at Pinxton, was authorised by Act of Parliament in 1789, but not fully opened until 1794. In 1870 it was taken over by the Midland Railway. The canal was finally abandoned in 1944.
