Draft letter to Lord Roos [John, Lord Roos, eldest son of the Earl of Rutland, Member of Parliament for Derbyshire 1700-1701] - ‘at the fair here (Bakewell) yesterday most of the yeomanry of the High and Low Peak, the lead merchants and miners consulted re the Parsons’ Bill - they believe your lordship and fellow members incline to the bill which will lose us three parts in four of the votes we had at the election, for the universal cry is against the bill and particularly against Sir Philip Gell’. 22 Apr
