Administrative HistoryRipley was originally a township in the Parish of Pentrich, but a church was built in 1820 and dedicated in 1821. It was licensed for marriages in 1838 and became a separate parish in 1855. The records include registers of a chapel of ease, St John, Greenhillocks, built in 1894, licensed for marriages in 1966 and closed in 1983.
