Administrative History | By the Test Act 25 Ch II c2 (1673) persons holding civil or military office were obliged to deliver into court a certificate that they had received the Lord's Supper according to the usage of the Church of England (see Q/RR/1) and also, when taking the oaths of office, they were to make a declaration denying the doctrine of transubstantiation. This Act was re-enacted with amendments from 1701 onwards and was repealed in 1828. |
