Description
This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
A Map of Hognaston WYNN and Hognaston Old Field in the Liberty of Hognaston in the County of Derby to which the award hereunto annexed doth refer. 1774. Scale:of 20 chains [1:6400]. Size: 45 x 34 cm. Materials: ink on backed paper, some colour. Centred on: SK2250. Notes: compass rose, north at top. Shows two separate plots not related geographically on the sheet: 61 allotments numbered but no award is attached. Location: DRO,Q/RI 52; copy in DRO, D258/1/15/1, Surveyor: C.Beighton.Scale: 10 chains to 2½".Size: 88 x 54 cm. Materials: ink on parchment.Notes: Philip Gell and Lord Scarsdale's lands marked: floral cartouche: endorsed 'Hognaston Award 29th Set. 1774'; DRO, microfilm M/721
