Hartshorne duplicate enclosure award
Description
This map is described in the Derbyshire Record Society's "A Catalogue of Local Maps of Derbyshire c.1528–1800" (compiled by Harold Nichols, revised by Mary Wiltshire assisted by Susan Woore, published 2012). The description reads as follows:
A map or plan of the several allotments of land in the common fields commons and wast grounds in the Manor and Parish of Hartshorne in the County of Derby as the same have been lately set out and allotted. Which map or plan is particularly referred to in the afore going award to which this is annexed for the better description and explanation of the respective allotments thereby made. In witness whereof we the Commissioners named in the afore going award hereunto set our hands this…day of….. Wm Wyatt, George Ingman, Thos. Oldknow. [The award is dated 22 July, 1765]. Scale: of 33 chains [1:6400]. Size: 67 x 87 cm. Materials: ink on vellum with coloured boundaries. Centred on: SK327217 Notes: compass rose, top of sheet north-east. Inclosure plan with award, 163 acres, showing allotments in commons and Horn Field, Manchester Field, Little Field, Edge Field: hedgerows, fences, three ponds and gravel pit noted: adjoining liberties named: roads: allotments have reference numbers or letters: 'The several antient inclosed lands allotted to the several proprietors in exchange for other lands by them given up are marked with capital letters': endorsed 'Hartshorne Award Plan'.
