Description
Indenture between (1) John Newton of Ripley, yeoman, and (2) John Mason of Thrumpton, county of Nottingham, yeoman, concerning 6 closes of land called the Street Leys, lately named as Coate Close (now divided into two parts), the Broad Meadow, Little Close, Fistley Close, the Lane and the Lane Piece, and 2 other closes of land in the liberty of Ripley called Marehay Close and the Mean Close.
In consideration of £300, to secure principal and 4½% interest.
Dated 4 Feb 1742 and 16 George II: by modern reckoning the year is 1743.
Parchment: applied seal at bottom, with signature of John Newton.
