Newbold Colliery, also known as Highfield Colliery, was being worked at least by 1878, with Johnson Pearson named in 1895 as owner. In 1936 Newbold Colliery belonged to Pearson and Co (Chesterfield) Ltd. It worked several coal seam. It finished being worked in 1960.
