Title
Report of Ormonde Colliery's Silkstone Seam
Date
Aug 1941
Description
Report [by FF Ridley of Newcastle-upon-Tyne] on the quality and distribution of the coal found in the Silkstone Seam of Ormonde Colliery. An attached letter indicates that the amount of coal is diminishing in the Kilburn and Main seams and to be replaced by the coal in this seam, suggesting the reason for the report, but also that the quality of coal varies. It also suggests that more tests are carried out when the proposed washing facilities onsite are close to being finalised. The data of this report is compared with existing data linked to the Kilburn seam and seams found at Britain Colliery. Each subject heading is clearly separated. A list of contests suggests that 6 various diagrams and tables of the data should be attached as appendices but only no. 4 is attached.
