Title
Blackwell Colliery Company Sutton Colliery signing-on book
Date
Jul 1921-Apr 1936
Description
Workmen sign to agree to serve the company under the terms of the contract rules printed at front of volume subject to observance of the Coal Mines Act 1911 and regulations.
Information varies but columns used include date, whether workman qualified to work alone under General Rule 73, signature or mark of person employed, occupation, married or single with age, address, whether Nystagmus, and witness. The volume is not specifically named as being for Sutton Colliery, but the addresses of the workers generally suggest much of the workforce came from Sutton-in-Ashfield.
