Notes
Small village in northwestern Derbyshire, 15 miles south of Manchester, on the edge of the Peak District, on the eastern side of the River Goyt. Located between Whaley Bridge and Fernilee, it was originally part of the ecclesiastical parish of Fernilee (itself previously in the parish of Hope until 1898 and then Buxton, it became a separate parish in 1905. When Fernilee was joined with Taxal in 1966, Shallcross became part of the civil parish of Whaley Bridge.
