Notes
An upland region of central and northern England, characterised by the gritstone moorlands and edges of the Dark Peak, the limestone dales and plateaux of the White Peak, and the rolling hills and farmland of the South West Peak. Much of the region lies within the Peak District National Park, designated in 1951 as Britain’s first national park and extending across parts of Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Yorkshire.
