Abstract
"Preserved for over eighty years in an old ovaltine tin, my dad's eight original handwritten notebooks have undergone meticulous editing by me, his daughter, Carol Draper resulting in the creation of a memoir entitled ‘A Private War’. This literary work serves as a capsule, encapsulating the transformative experiences of one man during the Second World War. Travelling through Egypt, Trans Jordan, Syria and India, his final destination was Burma, where he served as a Chindit. Even after eighty years, the narrative power of my dad’s five year story remains unwavering, serving as a poignant reminder of the resilient human spirit in the face of adversity! Putting the book together has been a real labour of love and had its emotional rollercoasters, but it is something I am incredibly proud of" - Carol Draper
