South Nottinghamshire Hussars Yeomanry; 1794-; British Army unit formed as volunteer cavalry in 1794, converted to artillery 1922 and now part of the Territorial Army.
Strutt; Lord; Henry (1840-1914); 2nd Baron Belper, soldier, MP
Brandreth; Jeremiah (1790-1817); Out-of-work stocking maker who lived in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire; beheaded in Derby for treason. He was known as "The Nottingham Captain". He and two of his conspirators were the last people to be beheaded with an axe in Britain. The rising is known as the Pentrich Revolution.
