History	The medieval Diocese of Coventry and Lichfield covered the counties of Chester, Stafford and Derby, as well as parts of Shropshire, Lancashire, Warwickshire and smaller parts of Flintshire and Denbighshire. In 1541, a new Diocese of Chester was formed and the Welsh parishes were also no longer covered by the Diocese of Coventry and Lichfield. It was after the Resoration in 1660 that the name was changed to Diocese of Lichfield and Coventry. In 1836 the archdeaconry of Coventry was transferred to the Diocese of Worcester, from which period the Diocese was known solely as the Diocese of Lichfield
