History | The Chesterfield, formerly Wesleyan, Methodist circuit formed in 1806 and was based on the chapel at Saltergate. The circuit became the Chesterfield Central Methodist circuit on the amalgamation of the Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist Churches in 1932. In 1950, the Chesterfield Mount Zion Methodist Circuit was amalgamated with the Saltergate circuit; the other Chesterfield circuits (Marsden Street and Holywell) have also been gradually absorbed into this circuit. The circuit merged with the Bolsover and Staveley circuit to form the Derbyshire North East Methodist Circuit in September 2010.
