History | Built in Barrow in Furness for Furness, Withy & Co of liberspool, Newfoundland worked the transatlantic mail route between Liverpoos and Canada, with her sister ship, RMS Nova Scotia. During the Second World War she carried wounded troups between the UK and Canada. In 1943 she became a hospital ship off the coast of Salerno, Italy, but was damaged by a Luftwaffe bomb on 13 September 1943 and scuttled the following day. |
