History
Originally the mercantile ship 'Fram', launched in 1795, the Royal Navy purchased her in 1798 when she was named HMS Xenophon. In 1801 she was converted into a survey ship and renamed HMS Investigator. Between 1801 and 1803, under the command of Matthew Flinders, she was the first ship to circumnavigate Australia. She was sold by the Royal Navy in 1810, after which she went into commercial service.
