History
TH Thorpe and Partners had been established by Thomas Harrison Thorpe (1871-1957) by 1901 when he is recorded as an Architect & Surveyor, an employer, in the census. In the previous census he is recorded as an Architect's Clerk, alongside his grandmother, Mary Thorpe, and other relatives at 74 Wilmot Street (the family are also at this address in 1881). Thorpe was an operating out of 23 St James Street, Derby according to Kelly's Trade Directory of 1912, and lived at Coxbench with his wife Esther. TH Thorpe & Partners operated from 41 Friargate, Derby between the mid-1950s and early 1980s when the building was sold to Derby City Council and established as Pickford's House Museum.
