HistoryThe first shafts for the New Hucknall Colliery were sunk 1876-1879. The partners involved in their sinking set up a new company which was incorporated in 1879, with Emerson Muschamp Bainbridge being its first chairman. It went on to work the Bentinck Colliery at Kirkby, Welbeck Colliery at Warsop, and Annesley Colliery, all in Nottinghamshire In 1944 the company was amalgamated with the Bolsover Colliery Company to form a new company, N H & B Collieries Ltd.
