Correspondence file concerning footpaths near the Coal Hills Quarry (sometimes spelled Coalhills or Colehill).

Description
The correspondence is largely between Wirksworth UDC, Derbyshire County Council and George Wimpey and Company, and their respective legal representatives. Includes:
Letter from Kingsford Dorman & Co to Derbyshire County Council dated 22 Feb 1967, enclosing the Opinion of Douglas Frank QC (1916-2004) relating to public nuisances from blasting at Coal Hills Quarry, such as flying stones causing damage to vehicles. He advises that "I do not think that the destruction of the footpaths should form part of the same action as that involving the blasting nuisance".
Report of the General Purposes Committee, Derbyshire County Council, 9 Mar 1967, relating to alleged public nuisance by George Wimpey and Company at Coal Hills Quarry.
Copy news cutting from Derbyshire Times 14 Apr 1967, headlined "Wimpey decide not to resume operations: Announcement soon after County Council meeting".
Notes of a site meeting on 23 Oct 1968 between Wirksworth Urban District Council and Derbyshire County Council.
Photocopy of note on an interview dated 31 Dec 1964 between represeentatives of Wimpey and Derbyshire County Council, recording "a preliminary consultation about proposed diversion of highways including footpaths, in Wirksworth Urban District in consequence of the Company's proposals for a new plant at Colehill Quarry, Wirksworth". Filed among papers from Oct 1968.
