DescriptionThis succeeded the County Rates committee (no minutes have so far been found for this) as the statutory county council committee for rating purposes - though not a rating authority, the county issued a precept on the rating authorities in the county. It was responsible for promoting uniformity in standards of valuation among the various area assessment committees. The 1925 Rating and Valuation Act simplified the assessment and collection of rates, and marked the start of this committee. It ceased to exist in 1948 when responsibility for valuation was transferred to the Inland Revenue.
