Many thanks for the perusal of Sir J. Franklin’s letter which I return and am much gratified to find how favourably he has been received in all parts of his government. I am glad that he has been undeceived with respect to the connexions of Capt Maconochie with an opposition newspaper a copy of the correspondence alluded to in Sir John Franklin’s letter has been in England about a month and has been circulated among most of Captain Maconochie’s acquaintances.
