Description
Received letter too late to call at Colonial Office. Is revising "Plants" and related part of the Appendix. "Geology and Zoology" already reprinted. Lists forthcoming visitors and events: Sir Henry Torrens and the Duke of Clarence; mentions field days and public dinners. Called at Dolland's: instructed in use of altitude instrument. Heard from Dr Hooker: botanist willing to go on the terms offered. Hopes young Buchan will answer his purpose for hIs father's sake. Mrs R. joins in regards sent to the Franklins, including baby, Mr and Mrs Kay, Miss Kay and Miss Emily.
